Privacy Policy

01The short version

ZenMode OS reads how you use your phone, which is about as sensitive as data gets. So the design rule is simple: that data is processed on your device and stays there.

What leaves your device is deliberately thin: the account details needed to pair you with an accountability partner, the Zen Score you agreed to share with them, and whatever you send us when you ask for help. We do not sell data, we do not run ads, and we do not have a business model that improves when you stay on your phone longer.

02Who is responsible for your data

The data fiduciary for the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the controller for equivalent laws elsewhere, is Kamalraaj Senthilkumar, operating as ZenMode OS, 4/80 DA, Sindhunagar, Koolipatti, Reddipatti (PO), Namakkal, Tamil Nadu – 637002, India.

03What stays on your device

The following is processed locally and is not transmitted to us:

• Raw Android usage statistics: which apps were opened, when, and for how long.
• Your declared intents and session lengths.
• The per-app categorisation you set, including which apps you tag as unintentional or productive.
• The calculation that turns all of the above into your Zen Score and Zen Report.

If you never pair with a partner and never contact support, ZenMode can run without sending us your usage data at all.

04What we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we hold your email address (via Google Sign-In or email/password), a display name if you set one, and an internal account identifier.

Pairing and score sharing

If you pair with an accountability partner, we hold the pairing relationship and the Zen Score values shared through it, so that your partner can see them. See section 07 for exactly what that exposes.

Product analytics

We use PostHog, a third party product analytics service, to record app lifecycle events (such as app open and app update) and which screens you visit. This does not include your usage statistics, Zen Score, session content, or anything listed in section 05. See section 10 for where PostHog processes this data.

Diagnostics and crash reports

ZenMode does not currently collect crash reports or diagnostic telemetry. If that changes, this section will describe what is collected and whether it is opt-in or opt-out.

Support correspondence

If you email us, we hold the message and anything you attach to it, including any logs you choose to send.

05What we never collect

• The content of your messages, emails, notifications or calls.
• Keystrokes, screen contents or screenshots.
• Your browsing history or the content of anything you read.
• Precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data.
• Your broker credentials, portfolio, holdings or trades.

ZenMode contains no advertising identifiers and no third party advertising trackers. It does use PostHog, a product analytics tool, to understand app lifecycle events and which screens are used — see section 04 and section 10 for what that sends and where.

06Permissions, and why each one exists

• Usage access. To read app usage statistics so Zen Score can be calculated on device. Without it there is no score.
• Default home app. So ZenMode can act as your launcher.
• Display over other apps. To show the intent prompt before an app opens.
• Notifications. To send your daily Zen Report and session reminders.
• Network access. For pairing, score sharing, updates and the Gold Invest hand-off.

You can revoke any of these in Android settings at any time. Revoking usage access disables Zen Score rather than silently degrading it.

07What your accountability partner can see

A paired partner sees your Zen Score, its direction against the previous day, and the summary in your Zen Report. The point of the design is that they see the number, not the shame.

They do not see your raw usage logs, the content of anything you do, or app-level detail beyond what your Zen Report itemises. You can unpair at any time, which stops all further sharing immediately.

08Gold Invest and your broker

Gold Invest hands you off to Zerodha Kite. The hand-off carries only the instrument and the quantity you selected. It does not carry your identity, your ZenMode account, your Zen Score, or any usage data.

We never receive your broker credentials, your holdings, your order history or your portfolio value. Once you are in Kite, your broker's own privacy policy governs what happens to your data, and we have no visibility into it.

09Why we process what we process

We process personal data to provide the features you asked for, in particular accounts and partner pairing; to keep the service secure and working; to fix defects; to respond to you when you contact us; and to comply with law. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it, and where a feature depends on it, withdrawing consent turns that feature off rather than the whole app.

10Sharing and disclosure

We share personal data only with: your paired partner, to the limited extent in section 07; service providers who host or operate our infrastructure under contract, currently Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform (hosting, database, cloud functions, authentication and push notifications) and PostHog (product analytics); and authorities where we are legally required to, in which case we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with data brokers, advertisers or attention markets.

Some of these providers process data outside India — PostHog's servers are located in the United States, and Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform may process data outside India depending on the service. Where that happens, it is under those providers' own contractual and security safeguards.

11How long we keep things

Account data is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account we delete or irreversibly anonymise the associated data within 30 days, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation.

Shared score history is deleted when you unpair or delete your account. Support correspondence is kept for 12 months. On-device data is removed when you uninstall the app.

12Security

We use transport encryption for data in transit, restrict internal access to what is necessary, and keep the codebase public so the claims here can be checked against the implementation. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If you find a vulnerability, please report it to helpdesk@zenmodeos.com rather than disclosing it publicly, and we will work with you.

13Your rights

Subject to applicable law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop processing it, and you can withdraw consent or lodge a complaint with the relevant authority. Account deletion and unpairing are available in the app; for anything else write to helpdesk@zenmodeos.com and we will respond within 30 days.

14Children

ZenMode OS is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. Gold Invest is unavailable to anyone under 18. If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

15Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version and its effective date are always published here, and we will notify you in the app before a material change takes effect.
